    Waiting On God’s Timing

Due to the depth and relevance of this article we have decided to republish it. We pray it is a blessing to your heart. Original Publish Date Dec 3, 2011 Waiting on God’s timing is one of the hardest things that a Christian has to do. Sometimes it feels like our prayers are going unheard. Of course, this is not the case. But the feeling is so real. The verse below, Isaiah 49:23, is one that spoke to my heart a few years ago. At that time things did not seem, by appearance, to be going very well in our lives.  Sometimes reading the Old Testament can almost seem cumbersome.…

If God Be For Us, Who Can Be Against Us?

Due to the great relevance and depth of this article we have decided to republish it here in our Articles Section. Original publish date, April 8, 2012… Have you ever had a day where you felt it couldn’t get any better? There are some days that we know God is intervening and working everything out for His glory. Romans 8:31 challenges our modus operandi , our way of operating. This verse states: “What shall we then say of these? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 Yes, we have trials in this life, hard times, depressing circumstances. But there is also the joy of the…

The Eyes of the Child of God

One day I saw a mother and child in the toy aisle of a department store in Bozeman, Montana. Time and again the mother told the boy it was time to go, but he just couldn’t seem to tear himself away from the toys. So then the mother began to walk down the aisle and disappeared around the corner. What the child did not realize was his mother was watching him through the racks.  He never was out of her sight. The youngster finally looked up, seeing the last glimpse of her around the corner, the shiny toy suddenly became less important and his mother the focus of his attention.…

Bible Memory Verses That Never Wear Out

I have often thought how we can never wear out a Bible memory verse. We all grow tired of cliches we hear over and over again, but God’s word never grows old. His mercies are new every morning. The Bible tells us that: “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” Psalms 34:19 I am so thankful for the Bible memory verses I mastered as a child. I am also thankful for the new ones that I have learned – and relearned – through teaching Sunday School and home schooling our children. As our oldest child progressed into 4th Grade last year,…

    Spring Cleaning of the Heart

As a young Christian teenager I remember reading the tract, “My Heart Christ’s Home“. The thrust of this tract was allowing Christ to penetrate each level of your heart until you have done a complete personal inventory. The author strove to illustrate the how  of  Jesus Christ dealing with hurts and fears as He brought them to mind. Like walking through a home, the author addressed each area. Then in the end he referred to a drawer or closet which was locked and inaccessible. The author pinpointed this locked area as the place where we hide the worst thoughts and deepest hurts in our lives. The Christian in the scenario…

    Fishers of Men

With fall already here, we find our selves as a family drawn outside. We know that soon the warm fall breezes will be blowing in cold winter snow. Fishing is one of our favorite things to do as a family. Even our smallest has learned to watch the bobber and crank the reel when it disappears under the water’s surface. One point to ponder is the variety of fish that can be caught in a single pond. With four kids and six rods there is no end of baiting hooks, untangling lines, and unhooking fish. Recently, in the span of an afternoon, we caught four different species of fish. Soon…

    What Bait Are You Using?

Recently our family went fishing. Trying a pond we had never fished before in Three Forks, Montana– with several different kinds of fishing lore, bait, and fishing poles– we spent the day trying  to catch fish. We saw some fish jump out of the water and heard them splash on the way down, a few swam past and never even glanced at our tackle, and an eagle swooped down and grabbed a small fry, but none were to be hooked by us that day. We tried spinners, rubber minnnow, curly tails, and several other things, but nothing seemed to work. This scenario replayed itself on two more days. Our children…

Our church, Headwaters Baptist, is located in Manhattan. For those who work in and around Bozeman but desire a small town atmosphere, Manhattan is one of the top choices.
