Ye Must Be Born Again

Our eternal residence is a fact that all of us must face. Our life is even a vapor that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away. God is the giver of life and also in control of when we cross the threshold of eternity. Sometimes God puts a situation in our lives to remind us of the fragility.

crashed car

This crashed Grand Am was sadly wrecked when a 21 year old lady was driving home under the influence. She was killed instantly when she crossed the center line and hit an oncoming vehicle. She died instantly.

The Bible promises His children that the instant our soul departs from our body we will awake in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ in our new heavenly home.

But how can we be sure that we are headed for heaven? How can we be confident that we should have no fear of death?

II Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

But how can we be sure you ask?

Through the Bible. That is how we know for sure. The Spirit of God moves in our hearts convicting us of sin and our need of a Savior.

And another way we know that the Bible is true is through the lives of other believers who are living for the Lord. Their lives are a strong testimony to the fact that the Bible is right. When believers can have peace in the midst of turmoil, patience in trials, and hope when things look bleak speaks volumes to everyone who knows them.

The plan of salvation is so easy, even a child can understand it.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

We must first understand that we all have sinned. Sin is something- anything- that we have done wrong. The Bible promises that we all have sinned.

The second step is to admit we are a sinner.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The third step is to ask the Lord Jesus Christ to come into your heart and ask him to wash your sins away.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Through faith you believe that Jesus has come into your heart and cleansed you from sin.

Good works are not good enough in God’s sight. He calls them in scripture filthy rags. If you are wearing filthy rags everyone turns away from you. But through placing your trust in Christ he takes away our sin and extends his own righteousness to each of us.

One final thought. Through the eyes of believers I believe we can also be tipped off if someone is a Christian. The eyes are the window into the soul. Those that have a special twinkle and sparkle make me often wonder if someone is saved. Later on often I have found that they are in fact a child of God.

If the picture above makes you wonder about eternity and you find that you are not 100% sure of your eternal destination, then please, reach out to us. We would be more than happy to share Christ and the peace of God with you.
