If God Be For Us, Who Can Be Against Us?

Due to the great relevance and depth of this article we have decided to republish it here in our Articles Section. Original publish date, April 8, 2012…

Have you ever had a day where you felt it couldn’t get any better? There are some days that we know God is intervening and working everything out for His glory. Romans 8:31 challenges our modus operandi , our way of operating. This verse states:

“What shall we then say of these? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

Yes, we have trials in this life, hard times, depressing circumstances. But there is also the joy of the Lord. Our lives are a backdrop, a very landscape, of mountains and valleys. As we traverse a long hard valley and finally reach the summit, the joy is unbounded.

Joy Cometh In the Morning

Throughout the trial we know that God is with us, but in a summit time it feels like God is taking a bucket of blessings and dumping them over us. Then, just to add a bit more he hits the bottom of the bucket to add just a little bit more joy.

Recently we had a day such as this. We KNEW the Lord was supernaturally turning events towards our favor. He was working out details that were far from our control. He was blessing, blessing so sweetly and heavily that we could only stand in amazement. If God is for us, who can be against us?

Sometimes when we are around believers it feels like they are just trudging through life, baring their cross. There is no joy, just dutiful drudgery; no happiness, only ‘robot service’. But we are not just slaves marching through life! We are God’s children. Our salvation alone should shake the feeling of defeat and make us rejoice. Everyday there are things to be thankful for.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint”. Isaiah 40:31

They Shall Mount Up with Wings As Eagles…

With the blessings we were also on guard. Of course we knew that Satan was not joyful that we were abounding in joy. We knew that he desired to throw and avalanche of discouragement our way. He wants to squelch our triumph. With a watchful attitude Wisdom told us it was not a good idea to get distracted with a bunch of ‘stuff’ that also could have taken our attention. Instead we simply set aside that glorious afternoon for our family and the Lord. We took the kids to a park and watched them enjoy a warm afternoon while we sat and talked about all of God’s goodness.

This is another one of my favorite verses in Isaiah~

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee: yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10

God never forgets us! God never gives us more than we can bare! We have to keep our eyes focused on Him and our heart fixed on His Word.

Isaiah 42:3 promises, “A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench:…” He knows when we are hurting. But focus on the things you can be thankful for in your life and your whole attitude will improve.

So when you have a time where God seems to be overwhelming you with “glad tidings of great joy” in your life, take a minute to thank Him. Take and afternoon and focus on the road He has just brought you down. “Rejoice in the Lord and again I say rejoice!” This day I am referring to in our own lives was the culmination of three years. For those three years God had listened to us daily pour out our hearts about a situation, pray for His help,  guidance, and will to be done. So giving Him back a day of thanksgiving and joy was the least we could do. “If God Be For Us, Who Can Be Against Us?”   NO ONE!
